Re: odd humming noise

But it's not an enhancement. It's Glenn!

In other words, he admitted freely that he couldn't control it. So just
accept it. It's like saying that GG albums only come in bright red
covers. If you want to hear Glenn, you need to like red. Or in this
case, humming.

My father admits he can't listen to GG because of his "vocalese". But
that's his choice. But since you're here, I guess you like GG! So we
have to accept it.

Me, I kind of like it. But that's just me. Have you listened to the
Silver Jubilee album, especially CD 2? There's a long fictitious
interview, and there's someone humming wildly in the background
periodically. I just don't know which GG persona it is...!

To each their own, I guess.

Cheers,
Matthew

When you're singing yourself, you know what you're singing. But I don't
know what GG is humming. I've read about attempts to decipher his
humming and find its meaning. Was this research succesful?

To me personally, GG's humming adds nothing to the experience. In some
culminations when there's much going on musically and the humming is
barely audible, it finely accents the culmination. However, in the
places where it's heard very clearly, it spoils things (eg in some
fugues of WTCI, in the BWV924 prelude etc) . The music itself is good
enough without any "enhancements".
