Ahh, nice connection.  I mean, it's not Proust, but from the Toronto show,
but Gould's prose sometimes does have a Proustian feel to it, the convoluted
syntax, the great belief in the reader's patience to stay with the words,
and especially in this quote, the focus upon the power in our life of
creative memory.

I haven't read much of Proust but I think there's at least a superficial
similarity.
