GG: that darned sock- it-to-me thread

Occasionally, we need a few "Proverbs of Hell" from Mr. Blake to remind us
that, although rules are not necessarily made to be broken, we can't let
them tyrannize us, and that it is often their very existence that creates
the stage for  the play of imagination. So if the "Gouldian Rule" also
enables us to hear from each other every so often about subjects only
remotely (or not at all)  related to GG, that's OK with me.  Freedom of
thought is not the same as anarchy. And, although we sometimes roam from our
central topic, we always come back. I doubt that these wanderings put off
lurkers, but it would certainly be interesting to hear from the lurkers
themselves about this point.
