Re-re-...release

Releasing albums in a different media (ie. from LP to CD) I think would
merit that label as well.  One question that I have, is that since Sony
took over CBS/Columbia Masterworks, why is it that I can still find new
CBS/Columbia Masterworks CDs of GG lying around in stores?  This brings
me to my next question:

As Bradley mentioned, Sony 'repackaged' GG's material in order to sell.
Another good example is the box set of GG's Bach collection, with each CD
consisting of GG's old LP covers.  Perhaps it was a good idea (though
nothing really beats the nice BIG LP covers back in the days), but all
that collection is is another re-re-...release of GG's Bach work that
Sony released years ago.  So I suppose it is legitimate to charge a lot
(59-100 dollars USD) for the new pretty covers but no difference in the
recording material?

Just to change the topic a bit, I want to ask about GG Brahms 1st
Concerto with Bernstein.  What did Sony do in order to get it released
and why did it take so long?  I am just curious, because if I wasn't able
to live to the late 90's (the time when Sony released the recording),
unless I got a hold of a pirate copy of the performance, I probably would
not be able to hear GG's playing and Bernstein's speech.  The Brahms
concerto is currently one of my favorite GG's live performances.
