There is a difference!!!!!

Hi all! I've been busy lately so I haven't been able to post. Sorry it's
late.
I find the conversation about the question of sex interesting, to
say the least. Now,I certainly don't think that one sex is superior to the
other, but there are differences! And this shouldn't be minimized. There are
different hormones, different reactions to life, and I don't need to mention
the main difference.
When I went to see the Eroica Trio preform last year, I was
completely struck by the way they moved and their facial expessions... it
was not the way males play. I believe that at that point, it was the first
time I'd ever seen female soloists in live performance at a concert hall.
Their performance was passionate, to be sure, but it was not male passion. I
thought it was a very moving performance.
Now for another difference. I am a short person for my age(and I
think I've stopped growing:( and I have very small hands. This can be QUITE
a hinderance, especially when it comes to octaves. I find myself absolutely
green with envy when I see all these pianists with giant hands that just
pluck out octave passages and tremolos. Now of course these obstacles can be
overcome, but it will take longer. Now I'm not saying that all females'
hands are smaller than males' but a lot of them are! All the female pianists
that I know that are my age who have any skill at the piano are all short
and have small hands. My former piano teacher, who was female, had small
hands. What I've been trying to say in the last paragraph is that in our
eagerness to ascertain the equality of females, perhaps we are overlooking
the reality of differences between the two sexes.
                     Anne C.
