Re: salzburg recital

Fellow F-Minorians:

I have a copy of the Salzburg CD -- which I purchased in Toronto during last
year's Glenn Gould Gathering -- and it is a very good recording. I assume
that you all know what it contains, but my favorite pieces in that CD are
the Schoenberg Piano Suite and the Goldberg Variations of Bach. I do not
know if Schoenberg's music was heard a lot at that time in Salzburg but
without being able to put my finger on it (no pun intended) I really do not
know why I like it. As for it being THE gould CD to have? That is a hard
choice to make because in my opinion there are many good ones but my
personal favorite at the moment is a CD taken from a CBC radio performance
of Liszt's transcription of Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 (Pastoral), which
Gould plays very well and is to me an astonishing example of his pianism.
Be well you all.

Daniel Vaiser
