GG: Profil GG

Katherine and all,

I mailed the fellow who designed the interactive project about a year ago and
asked if it was for sale. The answer was, unfortuanately, no because there
were issues with distribution and copyright and also the project is
huge and on an older format that isn't widely supported. I don't know
anything about the Banff center but I got the impression that it was
more of an art installation than say what you'd expect from a CD-ROM.
Yes, as I recall the primary problem was the fact that material owned
by the GG estate and Sony was used and he didn't have the permission
to distribute that info commercially. But as I said, this is old
info. Anyone know more?

I hope some day that Sony, the estate, et al will allow an innovative
company to create and dristribute that New Listener interactive GG
wrote about in (!) the *60's*!

P.S. Any opinions about the Sony chat??? The big bit of news is that
Kevin Bazzana's musicological thesis on GG will be out in the new year
packaged with a CD produced by Sony! Any Sony people on the list care
to tell us more?? I'm excited about it. Also, Ray Roberts gave a
poignant picture of what it was like for him when GG died. VERY
sad. Friends of GG members will receive a transcript in the mail and
you can access the transcript from the Sony WWW site. (RE: past
discussion on f_minor, see Roberts' comments on Kazdin's book.)
