Goldberg Variations CBC 1954

Hi 

I have recently heard the first recorded versions of the Goldberg by Gould
in 1954.It is a CBC recording. The sound quality is not very good but the 
interpretation is wonderful.

What wondered me is that this version is totally different from the 1955
recording. It even sounds sometimes like the 1981 version

I would like to have some comments on the diffrences between the three recordings.
