Anybody know a good one word synonym for oxymoron?
Oxymoron must be the only word in English that has the root moron and yet often has a positive connotation. For all your French speakers out there, what's the French equivalent of oxymoron? How about German, I bet they have a great 40 letter word for it. The word looks Greek to me. Any Latin experts (Elmer?) know what it is in Latin? The ethymology itself of the
word oxymoron is an oxymoron. It comes from
greek:
OXYS.............. sharp, subtil, brillant.
MOROS........... destiny, disgrace, death.
