GG's name was originally Glen Gold.  The family had Gold changed to Gould in
1939.  Peter Ostwald said that "Glenn's last recital using his birth name
was on October 26, 1941.  He had just turned nine....." The reason for the
change in last name was anti-semitism.  Glenn's grandfather "didn't want his
kid's to be taken for Jewish"  page 36 of Peter Ostwald's book.  He doesn't
say why the extra n was added to Glen
