GG out-of-print books

     Hi all, just thought I'd pass along a letter I received today from
Akadine Press, the new publishers of _Conversations With Glenn Gould._
     I wrote to James Mustich (chief publisher) two weeks ago to thank him
for choosing to reprint Jonathan Cott's GG book, and to let him know that
among Gould fans there is an ongoing search for a few other out-of-print
Gould gems, in particular the two titles _Variations_ (McGreevy) and
_Glenn_ (Young.)
     [FYI, I chose to single out these two books because I think they have
diverse and timeless appeal, and because in a sea of biographies, both
these books offer GG subject matter of distictly different value; one a
collection of compatriot remembrances, the other a work of insightful
fiction.]
     I gave a brief description of the merits of both these titles, and
suggested that he review them as possible candidates for reprints. I
mentioned that together with _Conversations_ they would make a nice
trilogy, and this being the 15th anniversary of GG's demise it might be a
good time to announce the return to the world of these great books.
     Today I received a very friendly letter back from the assistant
publisher, who says "...Your suggestions of other Gould titles sound
intriguing, and we will look into these titles. Our schedule is already
full for 1998, so it may be a while... please be patient."
     So, keep your fingers crossed that these books may appear in the
future, and if anyone feels it might be worthwhile to voice a concurring
opinion to the folks in charge (who mention that it is always a pleasure to
