Re: [F_MINOR] Favorite GG Pix
Of the many pictures of Glenn Gould, what are your favorites?And which
picture(s) do you think most captures his essence as a musician, person,
etc.? (He had a lot of essences, so it's all right to pick more than
one picture.)
I like the one (not on the web, AFAIK) of him as a young teenager playing
piano duets with his dog Nicky, somewhere in the book
_Variations_. There's also a nice one of him at age 5 with an earlier dog,
on page 137 of _Selected Letters_. And the two of him with the abandoned
hearse on pages 82-3 of Jock Carroll's book.
And the handwritten page of his Handel arrangement (first movement, A major
suite) in Bazzana's book...the way he recomposed pieces according to his
own priorities instead of simply playing them. [This arrangement that is
unstuck in time, like Billy Pilgrim in the film he was working on
contemporaneously, _Slaughterhouse-Five_.]
