Re: A Sexy State of Wonder?
Hi List,
This thread brings to mind another sound quality question. Has anyone
bothered (and it would take some time and energy) to compare most if not all
the different versions of the 81 Goldbergs? I mean go back to the original
release and listen to the Lps and tapes (which must have been the majority
of sales during the early years given the scarcity of discs players!) and
the early single band disc. Not to mention the CBS re-release, along with
the Sony remastered one from the early 90s and this new State of Wonder
disc. And let's not forget the sound quality of Bruno Ms film.
Hey, in the absence of new Gould recordings, we've got to spend our time
doing something.
Jim (who also bought the set mainly for the interview disc. I was somewhat
disappointed though, to find out that much of the disc is simply Gould and
Page listening to the 55 and 81 recordings. Has anytime timed the actually
amount of conversation time compared with the time they spent playing the
music? I don't know why, but my memory is saying that only about 20 minutes
of the disc is them speaking. Could easily be wrong.)
