Thank you Sarah Anne for the list of Beethoven recordings by GG. I copied them down and will look for them. Actually I may have one of them on my wish list at amazon.

You are right, it wasn't GG playing that turned me off on the Liszt Beethoven recording, it was the Beethoven. I just never realized how monotonous the theme was until I heard it without the orchestra. I realize that some people love Beethoven's 5th, anyway everyone at least recognizes it. Just got the "Haydn Sonatas" last week and have played them so many times already. Am looking forward to the "Well-Tempered Clavier" Guess I'm a Bach fan.

The New York Times article "Two Faces of a Pianist etc." was very good, I thought, and I copied it to put away with the rest of the collection.

As a new person to this list I can say already that it has really given me so much information.
