Dear F minors,
the Italian Radio program about Glenn Gould was aa
homage to our pianist.
The speaker Ms Giovanna Marini, an Italian musician
who teach and play in the Conservatory described the Gould's word, His
Thinks, his philosophy and his feeling inspired by the book "Glenn Gould - L'ala
del turbine intelligente - scritti sulla Musica" (The Glenn Gould reader) by
Adelphi.
In this radio portrait Gould to rise
up as a great Man, as a great Artist who was inspired by His Genius since
His childhood.
Some flattering words about Him were: "Gould was a
man with a sharp mind - He was an Artist who had an extreme feeling and
intelligence, He was a supreme pianist and critic, etc...."
Ms Marini remember with pleasure her musical tour
in Toronto and describe, with emotion, her visit to the Gould's sites (in
particular the childhood home); she has a deep attention for
Glenn.
The comments were focussed on
relationship Gould /Bach, Gould /Beethoven, Gould /Schoenberg, Gould and
The piano concertos, Gould and the Media.
The Music (the Gould's performances of course )
accompanied always the reading and the comments: Bach (the "Goldberg Variations"
in particular) but also Beethoven and Schoenberg.
In this program there were also some extracts by
the Film "32 Shorts films about Glenn Gould".
In particular, at the end of the series, were
touching the announce of Gould's death and the news of the spaceships Voyagers 1
and 2 that fly in the space with a short Bach's Prelude performing by
Glenn Gould.
In this program the atmosphere was always intense
and moving; it was an excellent program.
Best
Valeria Massari
