Sort of OT: Searching for Images on the Web
Here's a search engine that makes it easier to search for pictures on the
web.
http://www.ditto.com/
Search results display with thumbnails. Even if the web site is down, the
thumbnail is still viewable.
Searching for Glenn Gould brought up 120 hits -- most of them actually
pictures of GG -- or related items, such as pictures of his manuscripts,
watches, apartment building, etc. from the National Library of Canada. (BTW
clicking the thumbnail of the Beatles actually leads to an obituary of
Franz Kraemer, who was in "Two Portraits.")
You can also refine searches by adding additional terms. This was really
helpful today because someone wanted me to help her find a particular image
of Glenn Gould. (One of the CBC posters for the Idea of North.)
Unfortunately, you can't search by picture description. (GG walking on
snow, GG sitting in chair, etc.)
