How many times did she write about *sex* in that article?! I think
Tamara Bernstein has to get over her sexual problems. (Wow, that's a
phrase I never thought I'd be writing on an F-Minor post!) Maybe if
she admits that she has a big unresolved crush on Glenn Gould, she'll
become a more unbiased writer. Sigh. I'm not one of the "Saint Glenn"
types myself, but there is a big space between being too worshipful
and going, "Ewww! He had psychological problems. Ick, get him away
from me."
Ms. Bernstein's speech at the Gathering about critics was unformed and
pointless, to say the least. She seemed to think that if she could
quote lots of critics until the time ran out, she wouldn't have to
write an actual speech. This reminds me of a classmate at college who
thought she could get a good grade on a presentation by simply
reciting passages from the Marquis de Sade and a skin magazine. It
didn't work. She got a C-, and I think the professor was too, too kind
in his grade.
Photo update!!! I finally broke down and bought a scanner! I'm new at
this stuff, so I've only scanned three photographs so far. One of me
sitting next to the sculpture and one of me at L'Atelier Grigorian.
(Hmm, sounds like narcissism.) I don't have a Web site (yet), so I
can't post them.
Mary Jo, I'm going to try scanning a couple of pictures of *you* next!
I've got a great one of you with the sculpture. ;-> (Don't worry, I'll
send it to others only if I have your permission.)
