GG: Korngold recording
Just recently I got to know that
there had been the followng disc available since 1995:
--
The legendary Korngold recording produced by GG in 1973 is available as CD:
Korngold: Piano Sonatas Nos.1 & 2, Don Quixote, and Fairy Pictures.
Antonin Kubalek, piano.
Citadel CTD 88019
--
Sonata No.2 and Fairy Pictures are the recording produced by GG,
released in 1973 from Genesis Label (LP GS1055).
(The others were recorded in 1978 under another producer.)
I bought a copy at CD World ( http://www.cdworld.com )
GG's liner notes is not carried in the booklet.
It is nowadays available in the Glenn Gould Reader, as you might know.
Reding through the notes, GG does not seem to have thought highly of
the Korngold sonata. I wonder why he made such a production.
Are there any researches refering to the episode of the
Korngold production?
Regards,
Junichi
