À propos of the recent talk of psychoanalysis and Gould, I came across an
announcement for a lecture that might interest Gouldians in the Vancouver
area.  The information follows.

The C.G. Jung Society of Vancouver Presents a Public Lecture

Imagining Glenn Gould
by Dr. Lynne Walter

In the lecture Dr. Walter will focus on Glenn Gould, who, recognized as:
"Wunderkind" was one of distinguished [sic] Canadian classical musicians.
Interested in the psychological structure underlying his genius she did her
dissertation on the creative process, demanding involvement titled:
"Imagining Glenn Gould."

Whilst being conversant with and fascinated by Freudian psychoanalysis,
Gould appears to have had little contact with psychotherapy.  In assessing
individual psychic structures, one might ask, with Pilate: "What is truth?"
Combining the description of his outer life with a teasing-out of the
psychic underpinnings of that life, Dr. Walter will present this plausible
scenario of Gould's psychological structure from a Jungian point of view.

[about the lecturer]:

Dr. Lynne Walter is a Diplomate Analyst, trained at C.G. Jung Institute of
Chicago.  Born in Toronto, she spent her formative years in Windsor,
completing her B. Music and B.L.S. at U.B.C.  During her period as music
cataloguer at the National Library of Canada her interest in psychology was
awakened.  She completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University
of Ottawa in 1986.  Following years of independent practice, Dr. Walter was
awarded a diplomate in 1996 and is currently in private practice in
Vancouver.
