A work of art will always be the meeting place of a World 2 concept and
it's World 3 material realization, the artifact --  a drawing, painting,
novel, sculpture [upside-down urinal (in Duchamp's case!)], architecture,
and so on. This doesn't mean that a World 3 artifact must be "material".
Mathematical equations, in the abstract, are World 3 creations. Of course,
"conceptual artists" try to do away with "material" artworks. To them, the
"idea", the "genesis" is the most important element, not the material
medium through which it is realized. But still even they must convey the
idea in some intelligible form so that we (other World 2 entities) can
perceive and appreciate it.

It all sounds so removed, I agree. But Popper's thought does tidy up
things. Sorry about getting so far from GG...
