As far as the issue of Sony's pricing is concerned I'd just like to point 
out that in Britain Gould's CD's are considerably cheaper than other 
"name" CD's. For example, here, Anne-Sophie Mutter's recent Sibelius 
recording retailed at 14.95 (pounds that is) whereas the single Gould 
CD's sell for 7.00-9.50. The doubles range in price from 14.00 to 17.00.
 I would agree that the television stuff has been cut to shreds.
