Last night I savored one of the sweetest concerts I have ever seen. Saw
Alison Krausse and Robert Plant with T. Bone Burnett and band on the
extended "Raising Sand" tour....at the Molson Amphitheatre at Ontario
Place. The concert was about 80% sold but everyone knew who these
artists were and no one was disappointed. The raining goddess of country
blue grass was in perfect form and the screamer from Zeppelin fame
showed his famous vocal chops. Several songs from their surprise hit
album plus songs from their own careers filled out the evening. A
thunderous five minute standing ovation at the end, just before the
encore, was delivered in full throated roar.
All in all a most superb evening could not have been had, at least in my
town. What a fantastic event; from what I read in the press, their tour
is so much of an unexpected success that more venues have been added and
it has been extended to go on into September or maybe even October. An
evening of pure bliss (and a bit of a soar throat and buzzing ears).
