Something else we have to think about re: velocity.  Why, we have to
ask, did GG end his career by re-recording the Goldberg's at such a more
moderate speed?  What changed in GG's mind to transform(for the better
in my view) his interpretation?  Why did the second version sound so
reverential?

Makes you wonder.
