Re: [F_minor] C. Foss
From: "MJ Watts" <mj.accounts@gmail.com>
All,
I'm glad to finally see CF tell her story. Until now I think Andrew
Kazdin
has had the monopoly on the dish of her and GG's affair. And isn't his
book
just awfully sad and grumpy?
Oh, I had completely forgotten that Andrew Kazdin wrote about that! He
seemed to be upset that GG was having fun. ;-) I'm glad we finally have
another perspective on that relationship.
Now this makes me think about my fave GG recording, the Brahms
Intermezzi,
and how GG characterized the recording as "sexy" -- a very peculiar term
from himself. Now if you take a look at the dates, it perhaps makes more
sense. It seems this was recorded during their affair, no?
Hmmmm. That's a good point. Actually I always thought the Intermezzi
sounded more ... sensual than sexy. I know a lot of people think of GG only
as the serious-looking guy in the black coat, hat, scarf, and gloves. But
come on, his music always made it clear there was more than that to him.
And the Bagatelles op 126 in e flat maj after her departure... Now I'm
wondering
how much the relationship could have effected his playing. Any marked
differences that you notice?
Well first I'd have to find my copies. ;-)
