"Interesting about Bruckner. His music sounds a

much time on hands and knees trying to get right with his Lord."
I always find it interesting how people react to
Bruckner's music. Some folks are really
passionate Bruckner fans (include me on that
list, Bruckner and I have both have a healthy
relationship with our Lord Jesus) or others
really can't stand his music. I have yet to find
someone who simply can take it or leave it.
I think it was Gustav Mahler who, when comparing
the music of Bruckner and Brahms said something
to the effect that Bruckner's music is like soup
that has been in the pot too long and Brahms'
music is like soup that hasn't been in the pot long enough.
Does anyone know if Glenn Gould ever commented
on Bruckner's music? I wonder what he thought of
the large fugue at the end of Bruckner's 5th symphony?

As for Tchaikovsky, that is a good one. We
pretty much know he consummated male/male stuff
but did he let go for his wife? Good
question. Makes me wonder about Elton John and
his wife but then again, he's a wild guy and
probably decided to act out a hetero fantasy until it bored him.
I like Ken Russell but have yet to see that
film. (Did you guys ever see his film "The
Devils" with Oliver Reed? Oh my, what a dark
film; the book was 10 times darker and better.)
Cheers,
Fred

How about Anton Bruckner who was a contemporary
of Brahms? Bruckner was a Catholic's Catholic in
his belief. Bruckner even admitted that when he
had those types of dreams that he made sure to
get right before the Lord over his sin.
Also, even though Tschaikowsky was "married",
given his "inclinations" was he actually able to
consummate the marriage? The Ken Russell film
"The Music Lover's" with Richard Chamberlain and
Glenda Jackson says no, but remember too it IS a Ken Russell film.
I wonder what a Ken Russell "biography" film of Glenn Gould would look like?

Hi all. I have no problem with imagining Glenn
having a love life, even a sexually open
one. What I do have a problem imagining, is him
letting a lover touch, grasp or squeeze his
hands. Laugh as you will at my innuendo, but
that is the one thing I cannot see him
allowing. Platonic love? Nah, Glenn seemed way
too passionate and in the arms of a women I can
just see him acting in a much more relaxed
way....physically. But, we do not really know any of this for sure.
It makes me think out loud on the topic of having sexual relations.
Let's take a vote amongst ourselves. Which
famous composer never had relations with the opposite sex?
Brahms? Nah, too many prostitutes all around his early days.
Schubert? Ditto.
Vivaldi? Don't know anything about his life really.
Anyone else have any ideas?
Cheers,
