[F_minor] Literature about (or Inspired by) Glenn Gould
Can anybody name novels, stories, and other works of literature inspired by
Glenn Gould? Or even stories in which he plays a small part, in person or
in spirit?
Here are the ones I'm familiar with:
-- "The Maestro" by Tim Wynne-Jones -- GG appeared in the guise of
Nathaniel Orlando Gow
-- "The Loser" by Thomas Bernhard -- There is a pianist called Glenn Gould
but he is dissimilar in many ways to the real thing.
--"Good News" by Edward Abbey -- a cameo appearance
-- "Gold Bug Variations" by Richard Powers (the Goldberg Variations play an
important role)
-- Northern Music: Poems About and Inspired by Glenn Gould , edited by J.
D. Smith (has anyone read this?)
-- The play "Glenn"
Last night, I dreamt there were actually a couple of manga or graphic
novels about Glenn Gould! Oh if only there were! What a wonderful way of
getting the word out to young music fans. ;-)
