actually, jonathan woolf's review is simply his opinion. however, it's a shame that the review has achieved wide circulation, and might detour some from obtaining the cd. for it is brahms playing of quite an extraordinary nature. the positively rich and velvet-like sound, the occasional heart rending inner voice, the incredible sense of what brahms meant to convey, the overall scope of concept in the tiniest of intermezzi, etc,etc,--- it is hard to imagine someone not being instantly aware of all these things, and then not being emotionally affected. oh well, it isn't the first time someone has said something i never would have imagined possible. michael
