Hello Matthew and hello everyone,
your theory is, really, interesting and it could be a good
explanation for me because I love both Gould and Chopin.
I had not a particular love for Bach until listening
Gould's performances. I think that our pianist has given a new interpretation of
Bach's music and, exactly, it is "...his uncanny ability to embellish Baroque
music with romantic character.".
His ability was uncanny to himself because a genius is
often unaware of his great intuition.
Gould is, in my opinion, a romantic but romantic
in his own way.
I think so when I listen his sweet and passionate
voice, a sad and enraptured song at the same time, that
sing whit the piano.
But, I know, this is only a sentimental
remark.
