GG Grove Music Reference Available on the Web
Dear F minors,
I received a message this morning from another list that might interest some
of
you. The Grove Music Reference is available on the Web. There is a review
at:
http://www.nytimes.com/2001/02/15/technology/15GROV.html?pagewanted=all
The online version is pricey - $295 annually, $30 a month or $30 for 10
sessions each covering a 24 hour period. The print version costs $4,850.
Glenn Gould is mentioned in the review:
"but from there you can follow a link to
the Glenn Gould Archive at the National Library of Canada
(www.gould.nlc-bnc.ca). The archive includes a few hours of commercially
unavailable Gould recordings, among them rehearsals of the Bach Inventions
and Strauss's Burleske (with Mr. Gould singing the orchestral part),
outtakes
from a recording session during which he plays works of Brahms in the style
of Rameau, Andre Kostelanetz and Philip Glass, and excerpts from a few
speeches."
