Re: CD 318
Okay, I'm starting to figure this nomenclature thing out, with the help of
the Steinway page.
The grand model D, means concert Grand, top of the line, the largest piano.
There are five types of grands, in increasing size they are S, M, L, B and
D.
Vertical pianos of different heights are models K and 1098.
I think, though am not sure, only model Ds can be called concert grands.
We know CD 318 was a concert grand and hence (probably) a model D.
Now it seems a bit odd, though perhaps true, that the D in the model numbers
would indicate a concert grand and the D in CD 318 would stand for division,
as in Concert Division.
Just what does Concert Division stand for? What are non-concert division
Steinways?
Anymore help appreciated.
Jim
