RE: Metronomes (was Re: No, Gould's so fast)
According to info provided by by Bradley L., the timings on the Schnabel
recording are 17'30", 5'25", and 9'16." The timings on the GG recording ('61
with NY Phil), are approx. 2 minutes slower for the 1st mvt, and 1 min
slower for mvts 2 and 3. Beyond that, I am not in a position to compare the
two perfs, since I don't have the Schnabel.

The short bio at http://www.sonyclassical.com/artists/gould/bio.html says
that it was Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto.
He played this concerto in 1946 as his solo debut with a Royal Conservatory
concert.
I don't know if GG's later recorded version of this concerto is anything
like the Schnabel version he so loved... Any takers? :->
