You're right, Anne. I don't know about 60 yrs. ago, but....
You can't imagine what I've had to put up with since moving
to the States regarding *slugging baby seal pups*! Sometimes I have
to tell folks that there are no ice floes around where I grew up
(Kitchener-Waterloo) and that I've never actually set foot in
Newfoundland or Labrador! And the Nanook jokes.....my God!
OK....lots of this has been good-natured joking, but
I'd stand behind my original statement about most Americans being
generally uninformed about Canada. (And quite often the response
to that is, "Well of *course* we don't know anything about Canada...
why *would* we?)
