Me too - many of us on this list I think.
Out of curiousity who else could you add to the "musicians who challenged my
perceptions" list. ? I'd have to add....
- Jascha Horenstein (for Mahler, Nielson, Tchaikovsky, Bruckner ...JH I rate as
one of the greatest of all conductors)
- Klemperer for Mozart (his Mozart is IMHO beyond compare and totally opened up
the composer to me. I'm seriously wondering if I love Mozart more than Bach now
!!! this is a crisis...)
- Sofronitsky for Schumann (in particular)
Can't think of many more off hand who have had such a potent effect.
