from the 19th to 22nd of november the swiss city of Lucerne
is about to hold its first (and hopefully not the last ) Piano Festival.
The organizers want to celebrate the piano and pianists
from past and present with live performances by Brendel, the Labèque
sisters, Perahia and Michel Petrucciani
In addition to that several documentaries will be shown
at a local cinema. According to the organizers they "contain rare or previously
unreleased material". These documentaries are part of an anthology called
"The greatest pianists of the 20th c" that was shown at the Louvre in Paris
earlier this year (details?), containing movies about, amongst others,
Richter, Gilels, Monk,, Benedetti, Rubinstein, Horovitz - and a certain
canadian pianist.
So far I was not able to find out more about the content of the GG movie but in case someone is in Lucerne on the 21st of november: it will be shown at a cinema called "Limelight" on 11 am
