I agree with the things you like about it. However, I find he plays a little too timidly, a little afraid to cut loose and let it fly. Example: variation 29 (track 30) is a very showy piece with grand gestures. He plays it very "carefully", missing the 'zing' inherent in the piece. Contrast: Gustav Leonhart 1960 recording.
