GG: combo posting

hello again,

since recent postings have addressed the issues of glenn gould, mozart, and
film, i thought i'd combine all three in this short posting. though i'm a
great fan of mozart, i rather disliked "amadeus". while it truly is a great
movie, i didn't like the way that the circumstances of his life are
distorted. the film indeed has many subtle overtones, but on the whole, the
director wants you to view Mozart's life in a narrow, specific way. the film
ignores many of the complexities of Mozart's situation (regarding his
alcoholism, family life, compositional style).

that said, when i viewed "32 short films about glenn gould," i appreciated
it all the more. i like how each short film presents one characteristic
about gould's life. the aim is to portray the many ambiguities of gould's
life, and the viewer is encouraged to form his own conclusions. in this
respect, "32 short films" is a model for how _all_ films should be made.

what are some opinions on this combo posting?
