Maybe it is David Dubal's book, Reflections from the Keyboard.
I'm not sure, but the words did sound familiar.
Or maybe from liner notes or something on a video or record.

Dubal's book is interesting because of his subjects (many renowned
pianists).  I find him a rather naive interviewer; i.e., all the women
get asked about their families (``who cooks dinner?'', as a friend put
it :-).
