Thank you for posting those liner notes on the quodlibet in the Goldberg
Variations.  I find this analysis amusing as well, but not as convincing.  It
surely is plausible and scholarly; however, I think it is more plausible to
think that Bach just liked these "pub songs" and stuck them into the
composition.  There is evidence of this kind of thing in many other composers
and especially of Bach.  But who knows?
