GG's favorite partita

On the recording "Concert Dropout" (circa 1964) GG tells his interviewer
that his favorite is (was) no. 5, the G major. He says he played it or
parts of it as a encore when he was still touring (or, as GG refers to those
times as when he "trod the boards.")
He demonstates the Allemande, as an example of one of the factors that
contributed to his decision to quit concertizing, namely having to conceal
the skeletal underpinings in order to project the lines to "the man in the
upper balcony." He recorded it in a manner that would "please the piano
enthusiasts," but was so far afield from his own chosen performance that he
says he would even rather replace it "if it didn't affect royalties."
