italy mad for Glenn

Dear friends,

this message just to tell you that last friday the most important italian
newspaper, "Repubblica", has dedicated an entire page to Glenn Gould.
Starting from saturday 15th and for three saturdays, "Repubblica" is going
to offer to the readers three Glenn's CDs attached to the paper: the first
are the "Goldberg Variations" played in Toronto on june 21st 1954 for the
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in the programme "Distinguished Artists"
and originally taped on the radio by Glenn's daddy.
The myth of Glenn in Italy is probably born in the second half of the 80's,
when the third channel of the italian tv (RAI3) dedicated 24 nights
(programmes of 1 hour around 11 p.m.) to Glenn's video performances,
always introduced by very clever comments of Mr. Piero Rattalino.
Starting from then, Glenn's myth has been growing in Italy as well, almost
becoming a mass phenomenon among people who love classical music.

If you are interested in "Repubblica" page about Glenn Gould and in the
CDs, the site is www. repubblica.it.
