Absolutely agree. I know I was one of the (misguided) people who responded
to the original post -- though in a *fairly* constructive spirit, I hope. I
said then that I dislike all forms of absolutism -- an attitude to
discourse which is pretty prevalent on the Net, unfortunately. Robert is
right: we can manage a higher level discourse than that and owe it to Gould
-- and, indeed, to each other -- to do just that.
