[F_minor] Under Thirty Crowd.

I had my first experience with GG when I was 4 years old. My granddaddy had given me an old turntable and Glenn Gould playing the Italian Concerto. The ablum with the blue cover and that close up of handsome GG. I would get ready for bed, put the needle on the vinyl disc and jump into bed. If I wasn't in bed and under the covers before that first chord was struck, I'd get up and do it all again. Then the second part of the Concerto would play and as GG stroked that one key, "Bum Bum" and the room turned into a ship in the deepest ink of the midnight sea, I would look out my bedroom window and watch the heat lighting flash over the horizen of our South Jersey farm and be asleep before the third movement thundered in. That was 1962. I am now 50 years old (yes, I find it hard to believe) and I have been hesitant to join in on coversations here because I feel I'm not as articulate or learned as these other folks. At 50! I want to say that when I listen to Glenn Gould play, I'm not disecting the music, comparing the music, only listening to his marvelous playing and allowing it to fill my soul and be the inspiration it has become. I find analysis can kill a beautiful thing and suck all it's charm and magic right out of it. GG played everything as GG felt. It springs from within and reveals a very complex, sometimes humorous but always technically superb artist and man. I find most of these blogs very interesting to think about and they are ideas that never really occured to me! I don't think that makes me any less a Glenn Gould lover then the next man or woman. I especially love the debates and arguments over certain renditions of composers. But I really loved the thread about the Doubts About GG! That really got some poeple going!

I try not to worry about sounding stupid and I really have no need to. We are all sharing our thoughts and these are mine. Glenn Gould has been an integral part of my life for 46 years and I'm very happy to be a part of these discussions.

Thank you everybody!

Jeanne
