Of course he was worth representing the Earth :) By the way, there were 3 works
by Bach, 2 works by Beethoven and 1 work by Mozart put in the spaceship. All
other music was folk.

Many classical music listeners hate that C major prelude by Gould and the whole
WTC, eg in the classical newsgroups of Usenet. Generally, judging by the
opinions online and offline I come across, Gould now seems to be regarded as
someone known to everyone but liked only by very few - the usual advice is to
choose main-stream piano or harpsichord.
Having in mind that GG was probably the most naturally gifted one from all the
keyboard performers of Bach, the order should be reversed: listening to all
Gould, then rejecting the renditions you don't like and filling in the gaps with
other performances.
