Dear F Minors,
Considering Glenn Gould's opinions on concerts, this topic
may not belong on this list.
The Edmonton Symphony is on strike. The issues are
more about artist management than money.
There is more at stake here than the life of one
Symphony. Music education is taking a back seat in Canada. It
is fine to say that parents who want musical education for their children should
pay for it. I agree that at advanced levels this is a good thing.
However, children are going through our school systems without learning to
appreciate music. If we want Classical music to survive we need to support
people like the members of the Edmonton Symphony.
