Dear Anne,

While I'm inclined to agree that it happened to work out that way, Glenn
Gould's musical career and life paralleling the cyclicality of the Goldberg
Variations, it was not his final recording.

His final recording was a one in which he conducted the Siegfried idyll.
Wagner. If I'm not mistaken, Gould had been eager to conduct, but sadly he
only got that one chance to release a recording with is name under the
baton.

The Sony, Glenn Gould Edition CD what has that performance on it also
features his own transcriptions of Wagner. Gotterdammerung is quite lovely.
