Re: French Suites/CD 318

See page 166-69 for a great letter from Gould to Steinway and Sons
describing the damage to CD 318.

In that letter he says the piano, according to the records, was crated on
September 17, 1971. It was installed on the Eatons Auditorium on October
16, 1971.

More on this interesting letter later.

There's mention of Gould recording on a substitute Steinway that Kazdin did
some equalization
work on to get to sound like CD 318, but Kazdin doesn't say which recordings
they were.

Anyone out there with great ears want to tell us?

Sounds like the type of question that separates the somethings from
something elses
( fill in your favorite somethings)

Bye,

Jim
