Evidently Gould's grandfather changed the family name from Gold to Gould-- presumably to avoid any connotation that the family was Jewish. Many have pointed out that to change the name to *Gould* in order to do this was a bit off the mark. So in the strictest sense "Gold" was not a typo because it *was* the family name. -Mary Jo
