Re: banality



As an editor, I must step in here.

The official (Merriam-Webster on-line dictionary) definition of
banality is:
"lacking originality, freshness, or novelty : TRITE"

While I disagreed with some of what was being said about the topic, I
found the opinions expressed to be ... well, original, fresh, and
novel. The discourse was far from trite, too. Banal is not a word I
associate with people expressing their opinions about Glenn Gould --
at least not the people on this list.

Remember, just because someone disagrees with you or talks about
something you don't care about, that doesn't make it banal.
