Re: GG: Music and Movies

Robin Phillips, maker of the Canadian film 'The Wars'? What about the many

I thought Timothy Findley made The Wars?

films Monsaingeon made in consort with GG?

I love Monsaingeon's films and think they're wonderful documentaries,
but I don't see them as especially Gouldian. (Except for that wonderful
moment at the end of Contrapunctus I when the camera pulls back to show
a TV monitor, Gould on the monitor still poised over the keyboard, and
Bruno & Glenn lounging about watching :-)

32SF was more Gouldian in spirit, I think.

Are there other films out there,
among the thousands, that share aspects of GG's recordings?

Well ... how about Bob Fosse's All That Jazz? Staccato beats,
incredible rhythmic propulsion, spare & stripped of extraneous impulse,
interweaving of the subject and the creator ...

Also like Gould, many people despise Fosse and his creations, so ymmv :-).
