Oh hell, you're kidding! The scoop I got last year from my trusty book
rep was that "Coach House Press went under, the future of their catalog is
uncertain, and _Glenn_ is no longer available." I must defer to the greater
power of your book rep. I hope I don't waste too much of Akadine's time...
how embarrassing. Thanks for filling me in. ;-)
I have to share a nauseating story from this afternoon... I finally
received the order I placed for a bunch of outlaw GG cds (Nuova Era, M&A,
etc.) I am not kidding when I say that the previous owner must have
regularly smoked 20 packs of cigarettes a day, and from the looks of it all
in the music room. Each cd case, though technically in mint condition, was
coated with a sticky and rancid layer of tar that left gooey streaks when a
finger was dragged across it. Upon first glance, I thought the entire lot
of cds must have been fire damaged, but then the smell hit me. Talk about
cooties! After scrubbing on one particular jewel box for 20 minutes I
abandoned all hope and bought new plastic cases for the whole lot, and
spent a half hour tonight cracking open all the old cases and salvaging the
liner paper - which, though unmarred, is also a bit dingy. When the smell
dies down, I imagine the discs will be just fine. I was amazed that someone
who was so obviously an audiophile of sorts (there were over 1,200 lovely
items for sale in this man's collection) could be so oblivious to the
damage he was doing to his music collection -- not to mention his lungs,
but I didn't pay good money for his lungs so I guess he can do what he
likes with those.
Anyway, having come so perilously close to a truly barfalonious
experience today, I must urge all heavily smoking F_Minors to go out
tomorrow and buy some nicotine patches for Pete's sake and quit junking up
your lungs. It breaks my heart to think of you coughing and hacking all
over the place. Preaching over, thank you and goodnight.

Toodles,
Kristen
